Canadian fiction challenge

I resolve to read 10 Canadian fiction books. This is my wish list:

1. All You Get Is Me by Yvonne Prinz
2. Gravity Brings Me Down by Natale Ghent
3. I Know It's Over by C. K. Kelly Martin
4.The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong
5. The Body at the Tower by Y. S. Lee (this will also double as a non-white protagonist as well)
6. Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston
7. Swim the Fly by Don Calame
8. Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers

9- 12. HELP!

Suggestions are welcome!

ETA: Great minds think alike! Just Deb is running a Canadian MG/YA challenge so I'm going to be reading my Cdn books as part of that challenge. Awesome!

  1. Hurrah for a blog!

"Plain Kate", by Erin Bow (if you haven't already). IMO best Canadian YA book of 2010. Plus, it is also a debut, if you don't count her published poetry.

Also, anything by Martha brooks. "Queen of Hearts" came out in 2010, but she has lots of others.

Also awesome from 2010 is "Folly" by Marthe Jocelyn. Or "Would You" from 2008 or 2009.

Finally "Vinyl Princess" by Yvonne Prinz. She is Canadian, but lives in the States and the book takes place in the States, so I don't know if that counts, but I really liked it.

Oh. And one more - if you want to do the vampire thing, Alyxandra Harvey's vampire series (3 books so far) is pretty good.

  2. I always forget that Yvonne Prinz is Canadian! I've read Vinyl Princess and actually just downloaded her next book from the library to read.

I've heard lots of good things about both Plain Kate and Folly so will add those to the list.

I don't know much about Martha Brooke but will investigate!

I think I am over the vampire thing but I will definitely keep those in mind.

    Thaaaaanks! :D

  3. Huh, Plain Kate is on my Kindle--I didn't know Erin was Canadian...another reason for me to be doing this, lost a bit of touch with the Canadian Author scene while I had my head stuck in the writer cave.

Just got my copy of Our Choice...I imagine my reading list will continue to grow.

Glad you are in Kat (I loved Wondrous Strange, just gave the series to one of my Teen Readers to see what she thinks)

    Deblah blah :)

  4. I've heard such good things about Plain Kate so I'm excited to get into it. I should see if my system has it on e-book. I'm reading from my Kobo more and more these days.

It's nice sometimes to have a focus for my reading, so thanks for hosting the challenge! Previously my goal was to read 10 Canadian books but I've stepped it up to twelve :)
